CNIGA Endorses Xavier Becerra for Governor

Sacramento, CA —Yesterday, the California Nations Indian Gaming Association officially endorsed former Congressman, California Attorney General and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra for governor of California.

“In these turbulent times, Xavier Becerra offers a needed steady hand that is rooted in his deep experience in governance. He has answered the call of service to this state and nation and successfully served in multiple capacities where he demonstrated solid and wise leadership,” said CNIGA Chairman James Siva.

“Xavier Becerra knows Indian Country and our issues. As California attorney general, he helped protect the Indian Child Welfare Act and took steps to define illegal gaming in the state. In Xavier Becerra we will have a governor that understands tribal sovereignty,” Siva continued.

CNIGA often endorses candidates for various public offices and last made an endorsement in the governor’s race in 2018, when the organization endorsed current Gov. Gavin Newsom.
