CNIGA Re-Elects Chairman, Treasurer and Elects New Executive Committee Members

BANNING, CA--At the organization’s annual meeting last week, the 40 tribal member California Nations Indian Gaming Association (CNIGA) re-elected James Siva as chairman and Isaiah Vivanco as treasurer of the association’s executive committee. Both elections were unanimous.

Chairman Siva is also the vice-chairperson for the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and Vivanco serves as chairman of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians.

The executive committee holds, in addition to four officers, representatives from tribes in each of the four federal court districts in California. Justin Quis Quis, who is the vice chairman of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, was elected Southern District at-large representative and Redding Rancheria Chairman Jack Potter was elected to the Eastern District at-large representative position.

Additionally, Russell Witt of Incredible Technologies was re- elected as the associate member representative position on the executive committee.

“I am deeply honored to be re-elected as chairman by the 40 members of this great organization,” said Chairman Siva. “CNIGA is a great forum for tribes to come together and be an unstoppable force to protect tribal gaming rights and tribal sovereignty.”
“It’s an honor to be on the CNIGA executive committee,” said Potter. “I was raised by the elders to protect sovereignty not only in California but across the nation. Without sovereignty, we are nothing.”

"After spending more than 15 years attending CNIGA meetings as a delegate, regulator and now councilman for the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, I'm truly honored to have been selected for the CNIGA Executive Committee,” said Quis Quis. “Indian Gaming is at a crucial juncture currently in our state and I'm eager to help out in any way to move Tribes forward."
Continuing their terms on the executive committee are CNIGA Vice Chairman Mike Lopez (Santa Ynez) and Secretary Daniel Salgado (Cahuilla) as well as Butch Murphy (Pechanga), the Central District at-large representative and Dale Miller (Elk Valley), the Northern District at-large representative.
